Think about it...

Some very basic facts:

The planet we inhabit is finite. At any given time there are only so many resources and there is a capacity for only so much waste.

Nature and the complex cycles and systems supporting life (e.g. the climate) are highly dynamical and chaotic.

Life existed and sustained itself in an equilibrium state for millions of years.

The capital of the world is being localized in fewer and fewer places, resulting in an ever smaller elite owning more and more of the total capital.

We all die in the end.

Some very basic questions:

Do we really think that we are not having an impact on the environment and if we do acknowledge our influence, do we really think that we can predict, model and control the outcome?

Do we really believe that the current set-up of things, our current way of life, will continue to work for another 30, 50, 100 years?

If we do, then the next question is: how obvious do the signs need to get before we see them? And couldn't it be too late then?

If we don't, then why aren't we changing anything? Remember, your limits are given by your imagination and beliefs of what you can do. Do we really choose to be the one generation whose legacy will pose a great threat to the generations (i.e. our own offspring) to come and maybe even to the phenomenon of life per se?

When looking into the night skies and marveling at the beauty of it all, do your problems and worries still seems as immediate as before?
